Let me say right off the bat that BlackSite: Area 51 is an average game. I am not saying it’s bad, I’m just saying it’s average. You play as Aeran Pierce, a tough guy who has a team of wise guys that he leads into Iraq. You find a piece of alien technology you get into a fight, you lose one of your crew and blackout. The story then picks up 3 years later in Nevada. Something to do with the Alien stuff you saw in Iraq is now there and your mission is to stop it.
The graphics are well done. Some parts of the environment are destructible. So taking cover too long in one spot can be a bad thing. This game at times has an arcade feel to it, where enemies just pop out of nowhere. Sometimes it takes you by surprise causing you to jump. A real attention grabber. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the whole game and there is plenty of open area to roam around. This is one of those mindless shoot and kill games. You won’t care for the story or the aliens, just how much destruction can you do.
The AI isn’t very bright and the story line is dull at best, but if you don’t care much for that then you’ll find this game worth playing. The graphics are crisp and the sound is pretty good. There is a mutli-player mode where you can play deathmatch, team deathmatch or capture the flag. These are fun to play but can get boring. There is a video below with a demo of the game. In my opinion this is one of those games you either rent or buy because you can get it cheap.
